It is also a good idea to inquire as to whether your doctor has "hospital privileges." Most cosmetic surgeons choose to operate outside of a hospital. What is interesting to note is that not all plastic surgeons are qualified to operate within a hospital.
The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) states that "it is important to find out if the doctor has operating privileges in an accredited hospital for the same procedure you would like to have performed. Before granting operating privileges, hospital review committees evaluate a surgeon's training and competency for specific procedures. If the doctor does not have hospital privileges to perform your procedure, look for another surgeon."
Remember, when choosing a plastic surgery specialist, never place price above safety and quality. Once you choose your plastic surgery procedure, research plastic surgeons thoroughly.
